The long road to graduation

After 7 weeks of pre-school, Max finished on Friday. From our point of view and according to his teachers, he did very well, got along, and grew in many ways.

I’m 99% pleased. There was a little part of me wanting them to say that he had a lot of potential, but that it was really in his best interest to repeat the whole program, starting on Monday. Alas.

So he and 3 classmates who also finished last week had their graduation ceremony, along with songs, a short speech about each one, and a personalized book of artwork and photos. On Saturday night, we had a wild and crazy pancake party for Max and 2 friends.

  1. do they speak english there or swedish?    Congradulations to Max and parents for a job well done.

  2. What wonderful pictures. Time seems to have gone by so quickly and I imagine Max is going to miss his new friends and activities. Does this mean you shall be moving along with your travel agenda? It seems Max adapted well to so many new things, school, friends, language., home, food, activities and sharing. Me thinks he might have been teachers pet. He sure is mine.

    1. Libby – We’ll be in Thailand for another 2 weeks, then moving north to Vietnam (and Karin doing a “girls long-weekend” in Cambodia), and then finally China.

Yeah, Max enjoyed school a lot. There was some “leg hugging” in the first few weeks when we left him in the morning, but that passed and now he doesn’t understand why he can’t keep going. We’ve explained that he’ll get to go to school again in Sweden, but it’ll be a rude awakening when he learns that not every school comes with close proximity to a beach, monkeys, elephants, etc.

  3. Congratulations to Max. He is still as adorable as ever. He seems to just keep on trucking with whatever comes his way. Enjoy your last two weeks in Thailand.

  4. Congradulations!Max looks so cute. One graduation down and many more to come.. Before you know it you’ll be celebrating his Masters or maybe even his Doctorate. Have a great time. Love reading your blogs and looking at your pictures. Love, Fraydel
